Bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me right now. It started to hit home yesterday that in three weeks I won't be getting up and getting the kid's breakfast and making sure they've got their uniforms all sorted etc. When I go 'home' it will be to another town 5 miles away to stay at my dad's and I'll see then twice a week at best.
Right now I'm sleeping on the sofa and the girls' bedroom has been swapped with our old room so I'm effectively a lodger as the marital bed has been disassembled. There's nowhere in the house that I feel can really go to now and be on my own.
On the plus side the new lady in my life has brought a ray of sunshine I never thought possible. Proof if it were ever needed that I've been doing nothing but existing for 5 years and now I see that 'living' is an option and something I deserve. One step at a time of course but some tentative plans are already being made for the future.
The next few weeks will be tough but the future is looking rosy.

This is the motto of this century's hypercapitalism. And that's what makes the "ZEN-industry" booming. Still, glad to hear you discovered "living as an option" all by yourself before a complete breakdown.

This must be awful. I can't imagine how you must feel. Heartbreaking.
Glad you can see you are moving on though.
Ben really wants some blue cheese dip. Oh for a fondue set. And some blue cheese.

I'm dreading 'the day' but it's absolutely for the best. If you knew all the back story the idea of staying together for the kids would be mental suicide for both of us I think. I'm not the first that a marriage breakdown has happened to and certainly won't be the last. We'll get through it all somehow and we are at least still pals, but nothing more.
BREAKING NEWS: Such has been the swiftness of developments with my new lady I'm going to do my utmost to avoid going to my dad's at all and find somewhere closer to her. I won't bore you with the logistics but presently they suck and will only get worse if I move out of town. I've found a one bedroom place that's only a mile away from her, is on the bus route, is not too expensive and close to local amenities. I'm not going to be a prophet of doom but even if things didn't work out it's a nice area and I'd be happy to live there. It's also pretty simple for getting to my old place to see the kids.
I saw a film once where a couple broke up but lived in such a massive mansion that they just moved to separate wings and lived separate lives, barely ever having to see each other. But it meant the kids still lived in the same house as both parents. If only everyone could do that!
I watched a film once where there was this big space ball that blew up a planet.
I saw a film once where YOUR MUM.
I saw a film with YOUR FACE.
