I drove past it and really wished I had stopped (is it still free entry?)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who enjoys doing stuff on holiday.
Will Cam, if you're interested (even vaguely) in art you should go to the Galleria Borghese (my favourite thing in Rome, full of amazing pieces, but they kick you out after your hour is up) and the Villa Doria Pamphilii (a stately home in the middle of Rome that no one even notices). The Colosseum is a real disappointment and not really worth paying to get into as there is nothing to see inside that you can't see outside. The Vatican museums are horrific - everyone has to go along the same route so you get herded through without an opportunity to stop and look at things or take a break, and you can't escape as there are no exits along the way.

I don't mind my boss; cutting off sky unanounced, turning up at my door on a sunday morning unannounced and making me work 12 hours days.
But he takes one smirk at my holiday plans. And I'm all general strike, bring on the Jarrow marchers.
I have revelled in being mocked either for not taking holidays or having holiday plans for years.
3 best things about being a bloke; being smelly, pissing standing up, not caring what other people think.

Yep.
If only they'd cut up 60103 for scrap!
And depending how long you are in Rome for this is a good day out.
From memory (40+ years !) I think you can get there by train.

Have I been so easily stereotyped and marginalised? I feel a new kinship with my oppressed sisters toiling under such a misogynistic regime.
Except when I accuse them of having no sense of humour and they angrily comment back and prove my point.
Literal pain in the neck, worse than yesterday.
I'm all ibuprofened up and have a heat patch on but feel so uncomfortable I just want to remain in bed.
Quote: Shandonbelle @ July 18 2012, 7:39 PM BSTAww, hope you perk up soon.
I've got the most awful sinus pain right now, so it's early doors for me too, bother.
Quote: Harridan @ July 18 2012, 8:56 PM BSTI'm feeling all small and stupid because my boss (who is getting on my tits lately) asked me about my holiday plans (I'm going to Wales and York to look at castles and cathedrals etc) and he smirked at my nerdiness I like looking at mediaeval stuff It makes me happy
He sounds like such a wanker.

AJGO feels dreadful. I am blaming it on a lack of sun. If I wasn't cold I wouldn't have a cold. Science. Where Is My Summer?
I think I've got it. You can have it though, I'd prefer some nice cold rain.
Hope you feel better soon Booo xx

Riley had an interesting day at the interview as there was another ex employee there also up for the job. However, HR have not improved. Riley was told that the decision would be made on the day (ie yesterday) but it would take HR at least TWO WEEKS to contact people to confirm the outcome. The question is, of course, why?
Maybe it's someone further down the chain who has to call you. It will probably take that long for everyone to pass the message on until it eventualy gets to the person who needs to make the call. By the time they get it explained to them and given your contact details it would have just been quicker for the first person to do it.
*Maybe thinking of shity jobs I've had where I'm the person at the bottom

HR departments are generally pretty slow, though. They do like to take their time.
Quote: KLRiley @ July 19 2012, 1:48 PM BSTAs stated in an earlier post, I only went to shut Spouse up. No intention of taking it. I have a meeting with the middle echelons of the Civil Service next week where if I am offered a contract I will sign and agree a start date. Spouse is having a problem processing that information. I have been assiduously listening to Yes Minister on R4+ as preparation for the new job.
My sister is a civil servant and I lent her my compies of Yes Minister - she said in three years she hadn't yet met anyone as competent as Sir Humphrey. And Theresa May is certainly less endearing than Jim Hacker.
Just starting to feel slightly better after a sleepless night and being sick from sinus/ migraine pain on the school run...lucky I had a plastic bag handy...sorry if I'm spoiling anyone's tea

I don't think your kids will enjoy their packed lunches today.

No need to take it out on the kids!
Hope you're feeling better, Shandy.
On the subject of making people feel sick, I've just got back from the vet with the dog. She's just had her anal glands popped, the stench was unbelievable!
