Heee.
I'm allowed because my nan (god, she's getting a lot of coverage today) was from Wales.
Really sorry to hear that AJGO. Wish I could make a constructive suggestion but I know bugger all about London.
Thanks keewik. Londom is ridiculously costly, but has more jobs. So to move out of London for cheaper rent would mean spending about that difference on the extraordinary commuter fares (should one actually be able to find a cheaper place, which is not likely enough to be relied on). Unless we move so far out of London that rent is much cheaper but then we're far away from work as well as family. I know beggars can't be choosers but I will be so sad if I don't live anywhere near my mum.

Well ok. Your one of us.
Have you tried looking on zoopla, AJGO?
Will check zoopla now, thanks!
Would this be any help? http://www.myukinfo.com/en/housing
Thank you very much Loopey, will have a read through
Couple of things AJGO.
Were you in a private let as an assured shorthold tenant?
If so the notice period following a sec21 notice, by law, is two months and then the landlord has to apply for the warrant so more like 3-4 months for the whole process.
And, when you do move, beware the changes in housing benefit that are on the way. Don't rent anything bigger than you need i.e. no spare bedroom as this will cost you.
I work in the social housing sector (council) but do come across private renting, part ownership etc.
I would just say that the above is E&OE and you should take advice from CAB if in doubt.
Good luck.
Cheers Oldrocker; we don't have contract as they were doing us a favour with mates rates- not pissed off that they need the flat back, just worried about costs. Won't be getting a spare bedroom with what we can afford, which after looking through 60 pages of listings on zoopla is a parking space. So at least that's not a concern!

That is like my worst nightmare I'm afraid. I'd die of embarrassment.

And Ellie would kill you.
Think I've figured this out, had a couple of pints tonight to take the edge off. Not enough to make me tired. So should be able to animate quite late tonight.
