Some people I know have given up smoking by

1. Using the money they would have spent cigarettes to buy something they wanted like DVDs or really good chocolate.
2. Keeping a packet of cigarettes somewhere in the house like the junk draw in the kitchen. Basicaly somewhere so you know they are there but don't need to look in to often.
Good luck!

The problem with really good chocolate is that you can get hooked on it and that isn't good for your health either.

The late sainted Mother Riley was on the provisional wing of non smokers and would frequently delight in pointing out to those that smoked why on her extremely meagre income she could afford to do things like travel on Concorde (Okay it was only the once) and they couldn't.

Perhaps think in terms of goals? Save the dosh you would have spent on developing lung cancer on something useful, like a pension. Oh, and your insurance will drop if you can tick the non smoker box.

Best of British with it.

Especially Toblerone. Before you know it you're gorging on them and driving to Dundee in your bare feet.

Laughing out loud

It is January the 1st, and I have just ordered an exercise DVD.
I am such a cliché.

Went for a wander to the shop earlier but it was closed because of the New years day holiday. It was a nice evening and thought I'd go for a walk instead. Ended up going to far, got a bit lost and in the mean time it got dark.Thought it better to walk on the dark street instead of back through the pitch black park. Hadn't taken my phone so had to just hope I was heading the right direction.

Think that's my exercise attempt for the year.

I'm an ex smoker, took me two attempts, one lasted a few weeks, the other a whole year, till I finally gave up.
Don'e even notice them now, no desire at all for them....keep at it AJGO, take up drinking copious amounts of tea like I did :)

Thanks Shandonbelle, seems to be common that it can take a few attempts so will just keep failing and trying again :)

If you don't want, 100%, to give up don't play at it because it won't happen.

Sorry to be heavy but don't make light of it.

Thanks for sharing, and sorry to hear about your pal.
Don't mean to cause offence by joking about it, it's the old making light of something to deal with a serious issue.
I will however keep 'playing at' giving up because the more I realise there are tactics I can use to get further and further away from smoking, even it's smoking less rather than not at all, then the better chance I have of eventually not doing it at all.
So please forgive me if I sound an absolute twonk whinging on about it, just expressing disappointment and experiences and fishing for support!

I do like a nice cord trouser.

I, on the other hand, do not. How strange.

I am wearing cords. And enjoying it far more than I should. Damn you, and your right-ness zooo.

I haven't managed to quit yet either. As a positive, I was too hungover to smoke yesterday, so did manage a day. The hangover did make for an uncomfortable 250 mile journey back from the in-laws though. :(

*feels smug feelings*

Get a terramundi and put the money you would use for smokes in there. You can get them personalised now so it can read "Holiday fund", "Dress fund", or "Penis fund".

What does a penis fund pay for?

Out of interest.

a penis for those who don't have one

Look up www.kingdongmalehookers.com

Thanks Ruby. But I probably won't.

I am now back at Uni in Lincoln. I can safely say it is good to back here and it will be good next week when I meet up with the comedy society :D

Sigh...

Bored and not tired.
