And my first MCing gig :(

I've seen some terrible MC's, even at Pro-nights; MC's who were so bad and devoid of anything funny that you fear they will wreck the atmosphere of the whole night. I'm sure you'll be better than those ones. (He says with no clue as to how good or bad you actually are on stage)

Baking an apple pie. It's looking odd right now...

Yes I've seen a few abysmal Mcs. I'm confident I won't bomb too badly, but I'm pretty anxious about it.

A seagull poohed on my head, with near decapatatory force. If I catch it unawares I am going to f**king eat it.

(reedit if you wish)

and welcome back Nat our angel of the north.

Having seen your footage you'll be fine. MC's just have to be affable and not to vain.

You can do it.

Yeah but the venue looks f**king terrifying and aparently they're quite a rowdy bunch.

The gong shouldn't be TOO bad- it's Beat the Frog inPreston, aparently that's a relatively friendy one.

Just did my maths- seems like I've done 25 gigs now.

25 gigs good going.

Maybe come up with a dozen quickie heckler put downs. But The best advice I got on this was just be nice, it completely fazes people.

I remember one MC, trying a bit of audience interaction, asked a table of people where they were from, they said Australia, he said he thought Australians were c**ts. And that was it, he went off to some other people. That's how you win over a crowd!

How many have you done?

Thanks Sooty- that's pretty much what I have planned. I can be a bit of a charmer if needs be, and I think with this crowd I've just got to be confident and kind and they'll trust me. I'm going to work on some heckle put downs and see if I can't turn the 'rules of the night' schtick into a bit of a routine. Plus I have a couple of audience participation games in my pocket if I need to win them over and get them focused.

jaysus. Well I can assure you I plan to do the absolute opposite.

Aw. :(

Sorry :(

Well what is the opposite of calling an Aussie a c*nt? Calling them something they don't deserve maybe?

Oh happy day. Challenge are showing old Blockbuster episodes.

Too tired for a late-night BCG session. Goodnight! Wave

(even too tired to find the correct night/night thread) :O

That's vegetarians for you. Eat a bit of meat and you'd have enough energy to stay up...

I genuinely have no idea, not because it's many but because they've been stretched out over 4 years.

Maybe between 25-40.

But then as Rudyard Kippling would say,

"Thy're tigers!"

I'm in a right grump today. Stupid loud neighbours last night and stupid moewy cat this this morning didn't combine to create the best sleeping environment.

Gig last night was shit(in an open bar, loud punters, bar manager a total c**t) but I did pretty well, so swings and roundabouts. According to another act I "smashed it". Only one more gig left until the Newcastle heat of So You Think You're Funny. I wish I'd had more notice so I could get it more stage time :( But I did some crowd interaction/improv at the beginning of the set and it's put me more at ease with the panic of MCing next month.
