Nah. I'm not sure what weird extra stuff Gav and Nat wanted to do (design new themes or something) but for the normal user you just sign up and off you go. Very simple.
I did think you had to have a host- but there are plenty of free hosts about.
I just made up a name for the site and put in my email address and that was it.
