Yet more reason to vote Conservative.

Intriguing....
Just reading this excellent Charlie Brooker article about the whole Ground Zero mosque thing. Turns out it's not at Ground Zero. It's not a mosque either. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/aug/23/charlie-brooker-ground-zero-mosque
That's a good article. He is ace.

He is. I've looked into this whole thing a bit more after seeing those shocking (and frankly scary) videos of crowds in the US baying for blood as they demonstrated against the mosque. The more I read, the more I'm convinced it's the US media trying to stir up anti-Muslim feelings with their inflammatory language. And sadly a lot of Americans are buying into it. This "mosque" isn't actually a mosque at all. It's a cultural centre open to all New Yorkers as well as Muslims that would feature:
* outstanding recreation spaces and fitness facilities (swimming pool, gym, basketball court)
* a 500-seat auditorium
* a restaurant and culinary school
* cultural amenities including exhibitions
* education programmes
* a library, reading room and art studios
* childcare services
* a September 11th memorial and quiet contemplation space, open to all
And a prayer centre. The "mosque".
So how is this being seen as a mosque? Most hospitals have chapels in them but we don't go around calling hospitals churches.
I blame Fox News. Might not have been them, but I blame them.
Robyn is going to buy some shooooes.

What kinddd?
What is it with Women and shoes?
I own two pairs. A black pair for smart and a pair of cons.
I also have an old pair of steel toe tectors for garden work and snow.
Why do women have to have loads of shoes. It's madness.

It's even more unhelpful. Chasing Muslims on madeup stuff means we ignore big stuff such as; cousin marriage, genuine fundamentalist preachers and forced marrriage.

You see, if you're honest, you don't really need them young miss do you!
Quote: zooo @ August 31 2010, 11:27 AM BSTOooh.
I haven't bought new shoes for ages.
If you buy any more, I'll start selling others.
But we don't really 'need' anything!
Don't need new televisions, DVDs, nice food. If we only bought what we needed we'd live off bread and water, and dress in the same one bit of rag our whole lives.
IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?

Same goes for you and DVDs then.
