Well, it looks as if I might have a monthly column with our local paper (yes, it's the one I have a major love/hate relationship with). But I have a feeling there is a possibility that it will be more often.

And more brilliant news. Good stuff. Let's hear it for the girls! :D

Sorry to bring the excitement levels down, but I am a bit worried and think my fellow BCG-ers might come to my rescue. Teary
Lee and Nat gave me some great ideas and recipes for a vegetarian meal and I had someone lined up to do it for me, but that plan has suddenly fallen through.
The only option I can think of is to get someone to buy something suitable from a supermarket and then decant it into nice serving dishes. I'm not going to pretend it isn't shop bought but I want it to look nice as well as taste nice.
I am thinking basic salad, hunks of tasty bread and .... er...help!
What kind of spread do vegetarians have on their bread? What could I buy for the main part of the first course? What sort of salad dressings?

It was going to be fruit salad for dessert and home made summer punch.

So, please can anyone recommend a good brand and type of ready prepared or minimal preparation dish and drinks I can get before Thursday?
Teary

Couldron do great stuff - you can get that at Sainsbury's, Waitrose, and Tesco I think. Salad dressings: vinegarettes have no animal biproducts. Tablespoon of Dijon mustard 5 tablespoons balsamic vinegar and the same of olive oil- combine in an empty jar and shake the bejiggin out of it. For bread purposes, veggies who eat dairy will have butter, but to be on the safe side you might want to stick to oil based spreads like that famous olive oil one I can't remember the name of!

Oh and another thought! What about gnocci for main? So easy cause you only need to boil for 5 mins, and serve in a tomato sauce of your choice!

And you can buy gnocci anywhere.

Ben loves EastEnders heavy handed stereotypical portrayals of drug addicts.
