Quote: Oldrocker @ July 10 2010, 12:45 AM BSTThat's for the TV version? How was it?
Despite having seen him live, I find him more a radio turn.
It's hard to guage properly from a studio filming, because of the repetitive and stop-start nature of the event, but I too am erring toward him being more suited to radio. Or, perhaps I should say, not being entirely suited to the particular format/scenario they had him in for the TV pilot.
I do expect it'll be given a series though.

What about cakes made from kittens?

I agree,
Unless it has been changed there is nothing to my mind that needs to be visual.
It's all about the Count's malapropisms, his misunderstanding of the world and the world's misunderstanding of him.
I'm trying to think of a similar situation but the nearest I can get is Hancock which was fine on radio.
But then it missed his wonderful expressions.
It's in the format of a gameshow. A tiny bit like Blankety Blank.
I think it works.
It still has all his malapropisms and misunderstandings.
Is he a bit like Major Misunderstanding?

If that's the format it's going to take some doing for a series

'I don't need a jacket like that to sweep my own drive young lady !'

Not with real guests. The guests were actors.
I have no idea if it could work for a whole series, I only saw one, but I'd be quite willing to watch more.
Me too.
I'll give it a good poke.

It could very well have been a show within a show, similar to Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive.
Ooooh, I hadn't thought of that.
Docked in Seattle and preparing to disembark. Time for a break from eating and drinking.
Ben is going to go have a bath and shave in a bit. Then he's heading up town for a few beverages and maybe a little dancing.
A little dancing what?
