Knickers!

Knackers.

It's down to money and risk.

Back in the 60s the cold war was raging and this was a way to prove to the Russians America could do anything which promoted the outweighing of risk and also throwing every single cent they had into the space programme.

It's not about technology at all really.

I always found this fact interesting, the Apollo 11 spacecraft had the computing / processing power of a modern digital watch or an old mobile phone, amazing what they managed to do with such limited resources.

Already getting distracted... :P

It was a triplicated maximum choice system, I understand, to avoid failures,

Lots more info available on the net.

This page near the bottom explains the overload situation that caused alarms to go off during the first landing. http://www.universetoday.com/2009/07/14/build-your-own-apollo-11-landing-computer/

Very interesting, Think I'll leae making that for a rainy day.

And I think they had a lot of memory problems as well, something about only so many commands they could take at once or something?

Robyn needs to pair up all her socks.

We have a bag full of odd socks, about 20 of them. I know the others are somewhere here in the house, and I know that I'll find them if I throw out all the odd ones.

Ellie is impressed that she's alive today... nutters on the road this morning making her cycle in AWFUL! 40 minutes of near misses!

It's punishment for not posting crap on the BCG for three days! Just wait for the trip home...

You'll regret saying that when I get hit.

I'm friend's with enough BCG'ers on facebook that you'll know. And I'll have a thread made saying "R.I.P EllieJP!" and you'll all be very sad.

Also, Tim is still poking me, so I know he's still alive.

Is cycling to work worth nearly dying?

I think you should just go for a nice cycle at the weekends/evenings outside of rush hour instead.

It's really not that bad. You just have to keep yur wits about you and don't take risks.

Erk. I couldn't do it.
Unless I wore a top to toe reflective yellow suit. And a flashing light on my head.

And that might make me look silly.
