Robyn is sleepy, and should have got more work done. Stupid room cleaning and stomach cramps.

It's raining so hard that I'm afraid flooded roads will wash my car away. Guess that means I won't be attending opening night at the local minor league baseball stadium. No $1 beer and hotdogs for me.
Dear SlagA
Our client (Sootyj the ASDA of comedy) feels his name is being impuned by the implication he is the creator (ergo father) of SlaggA. And by extension grandfather to that disgusting sock (which we have reason to believe recently became a MEP for the BNP and appeared on Question Time). The time for gobstoppers has passed. We have arranged for Brian Blessed to come round and kick you up the arse, whilst shouting the script from Flash Gordon.
Yours vinidctively Bastard Bastard Wanker and Bert from Sesame Street solicitors (and pant watering service).

Minor league baseball teams feed players into the major league teams; it's sometimes called semiprofessional baseball. They're mainly kids in their early twenties who are looking for a shot at stardom. If they perform well they'll eventually be called up to play for a major league team. I assume you have something similar? Football teams which play below Premier League level?
This team is affiliated with the San Diego Padres.

Yes, this year it's called Liverpool.

It was wrong to add earrings. And I hope we'll see you on a booksigning tour for Death Row. I want to come and stare at you from the Stephany Meyer's.

Can Minor League Teams be promoted to the Major League?
Quote: PhQnix @ April 16 2010, 12:49 AM BSTCan Minor League Teams be promoted to the Major League?
No. Players can be promoted, but not the teams. Membership in Major League Baseball is currently limited to 30 teams: 29 in the States and one in Canada. New teams can be created by expansion or by moving to a different city (both are somewhat rare occurrences) but I can't think of any professional sport in the U.S. where teams can be promoted or demoted.
Minor league teams play in small stadiums in small(er) cities and the players earn small salaries. None of the players are even slightly famous, unless they are former major league players who were sent down to the minors after performing poorly.

I don't think there's really an equivalent structure in the U.K. then, at least not in football. You can be promoted and demoted up and down the entire league structure - so Manchester United could be demoted to the very lowest league in the land if they performed so consistently poorly.
It's probably to do with the distances which they operate over. When people have to travel across entire states and everything it's probably not particularly feasible to have relegations and promotions.
We have 30 teams for 300 million people. The major league stadiums cost the taxpayers almost a billion dollars each and the team itself is several hundred million. Nobody is going to pay that kind of money if there's a chance that the team will suddenly be filled with crappy players playing against other crappy teams.
I don't think there's enough talent to support any additional teams. The same goes for our football. We have the occasional upstart pro and semi-pro teams, but they draw minuscule crowds. College football is essentially the minor league breeding ground of new talent for American football. Basketball is much the same.
