They threatened to beat me up if I didn't and I have to pay dinner money each time they send me a message.
Sorry to hear about your friend, EJP.

He sounds like the type of person who probably wouldn't have got the "area of internet the size of Ireland" wind-up in the Brass Eye special.

Sadly, at no stage of my life could that phrase ever be applied to me.
It does annoy me incredibly with books more than anything, though. I need to use books to work, and the prices are extortionate. I just looked up one to buy on Amazon - £18! Two of my books this year have already cost that much, and if I buy this other one it'll only be for a few lines of insight. The libraries are rubbish for it too, with a lack of short loans meaning that people have the books for ages, and might not even be using them. And if that's just another supposed reason to make University fees higher, then politicians need to admit that this cancels out the possibility of higher education for many, despite loans, rather than makingit a better experience for all.
Short loans are so annoying. They're never on the popular books that actually need it, and are always on the books I need for something obscure, that no one else has taken out since 1989.
I've been slaving like a black today, as my lovable old racist grandad used to say.
It's ridiculous. We're all doing this coursework at the moment, so will all need the same books. Surely this must happen every year, and they can't afford more copies or be arsed to sort out loans properly, seemingly.

The textbooks that I needed to buy for my medical degree ran to a minimum of £250 per year (for six years) and that was back at 1990s prices.
Every university library should run some sort of scheme to both a) buy key text second-hand books from their students when they no longer need them, and b) run a properly organised "pool" system to share books between students. It's not fair that people should be disadvantaged due to their financial means or simply by pot luck when it comes to borrowing library copies.

I joined two libraries. My uni one and a local one. I then ordered in books from the local library when the uni one didn't have them. Was very handy.

Isn't that when the EU makes us give it billions in lunch money or Rumania will give us a rear admiral?

Absolutely! It's "loveable", Chip.
I could probably get it from somewhere else, it just means that the trawling through University of London library websites begins now.
