Andie - do you think I can just talk to you and it'll class as "American Studies", rather than having to do the reading which I actually have to?

Sure, I'm a published writer, I'm American, and it looks like I might get featured on NPR soon. :)

National Parolees Register?

:D

Well done.

Thanks. It's a feature on people with unique jobs. :)

Oooh! Yay! Hug Better than this course stuff.

It's actually quite interesting, it's just very dense.

That's the hard part of assigned reading. Sometimes the material is great, it's just that you don't want to be made to read it.

The focus is on how cars revolutionized America, and at the moment I'm reading about race and driving. Before, it was women.

I am off now to force myself to concentrate. Bye guys!

Good luck Robyn!

I read an entiiiire article for American Studies, but didn't get a chance to start Beowulf yet. :(

You said it was about American transportation, right? If so, did it mention about how we are one of the few countries where teens and young adults buy their own vehicles and how much that impacts everyone's lives? Just curious...

I wouldn't bother reading anything. I'd just watch American Graffiti. Marvel at a Harrison Ford at his young cocky best.

Is he in that?
I can only picture the Jaws guy.

Unless I'm just uber wrong. As ever.

We've only just started, but we have touched on that. We discussed independence and alienation from the family, as well as "in the back seat" culture.
