Sounds like you were surrounded by them today.

Hey Robyn, did you know that Isaac Asimov's daughter was also named Robyn!
I am watching my daughter's Smurf village get trampled by my oldest son's Rancor. The long winter nights just keep getting longer.

If I knew who he was, I'm sure I'd be pleased! *googles*
Ah! I am, quite. ^^
Ah, Isaac Asimov...just another name that was mispronounced by my teachers when I was a kid.

Elliot is trying to help his sister sort out her work experience. At the moment she says she would quite like to work in TV Production, having made her very aware of how difficult it is she says she is willing to work hard and try. Does anybody have any tips or pointers? Ideas of where to look or who to ask?
Call the production companies and see who has junior vacancies. Your sister will need to get general experience of how TV production works, before she could be useful in a more senior post.
I don't know how current production companies work, my time with Alamo and others was now some 20 years ago, but assuming that things haven't changed too much:
A production company often has a quite small number of permanent staff. As they begin a new production they employ free-lance people from the floating pool of expertise for the duration of the production.
I assume all these free-lance workers have an agent or agencies with their CVs on file. Whether you get chosen to be on a production team will depend much on your reputation; which you have to build from the bottom up.
Thanks for the advice Bill, but it's just a week-long placement that we are looking for at the moment, though I will keep your advice in mind. I think it is just a case of placing as many calls as possible and hoping.
Robyn met a girl today, and the girl's dad kept calling the girl "Tootz" (Not as in "tooting a horn", as in yeah..."Tootz"). So, Robyn asked the girl if this was her real name. The girl nodded, and then said "Well, my actual real name is..." and listed off a huge string of things before telling me all about her birthday party which she was having later. Robyn also had to entertain her boss' grandson who was hanging onto her and who put a box on his head (While shouting, "There's a box on mah head!") when I was paying customers more attention than him.
Robyn is confused as to why small children do such strange things involving her.

What time is it there?
Right now it's almost 7pm.

Before computers were much used, the trainees/work-experience girls (?) mostly did the photocopying & distribution of revised script pages. That might still apply.
One of the most challenging jobs in Production is Continuity Girl, almost always a female because males just don't have the necessary attention to tiny details of clothing etc.
I used to want to be one of them!
I've wanted to be one of them since I knew they existed! Two seconds ago!
I have a friend that did that on our soap operas. She was really bad at it. She had that job for 10 years. Evidently nobody noticed.
Has now lost the comma key.

Yup that's the way to go. A 'runner' or dogsbody is the kind of thing.
