Quote: Tim Walker @ November 18 2009, 5:54 PM GMTI'm already depressed about this situation and I haven't even embarrassed myself yet.
Is she single?

It's a good word!
Seriously, glad you're in writing mode.

Is now divorced. Was married for 16 years. Left her husband 3 years ago (long story, but a bit of a swine by the sounds of it). Has two teenage boys, aged 15 and 13.
And still has one of the prettiest faces I've ever seen.
Why so already then?

Awwwww! This might just be the start of something beautiful, Tim. You just never knows! Well, 'half' beautiful at any rate (hem)!
Trust me, situations like this don't work out for me. Either she won't be interested or I'll somehow manage to f**k it all up. And I don't want to screw up a newly-recovered friendship. We've known each other since we were 5 and me and her twin brother were best friends growing-up. So despite the long absence we share quite a lot of history. The only optimistic note is that now I won't get pissed and make a complete fool of myself.
At least you're going into it positive!

I'm pathetic. I felt equivocal about the whole meeting-up thing until I actually saw her and we started talking. Then - bang - back to feeling like a slightly lovesick teenager again. Down with love! Boo!!
She might be the onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnne!
Just take it extremely slow, innit.
Then you can't disgrace yourself.

History tends to suggest that no woman has ever fallen for me, Lee. To quote Cleese in Clockwise, "The despair I can handle. It's the hope...".

I like the use of the word "disgrace".
EDIT: Oh, and she already accepted my apology today for disgracing myself 3 years ago, when I phoned her up out of the blue, pissed, wibbling nonsensical sweet nothings down the phone.

Yes, I'm more Mark than Jez.
As we were talking, I was mentally trying to estimate just how desperate, lonely and regretful she might be, in order to calculate my chances.

And if she Googles your name Tim, she can read all this for herself.
Does posting on a comedy website not count as a romantic way of expressing your feelings then?
I bet it'd put a smile on her face actually, reading what you're feeling.
I agree with zooo - I'd just take it reeeeally slowly and see if you can start to spot any 'dead cert' signs.
I will. Thanks Auntie Moonstone and Uncle Zooo.
