First of all 
I know how painful it can be to endure sickness and loss of an animal companion. Clearing away the toys was one of the worst parts for me.
It must have been a tremendous comfort to her to to get one last cuddle from you. She didn't die alone or in pain or fear. If you have to go, you can't have a better exit than that.
