I certainly except to see this scene featured somewhere in the series. But, y'know, funny.

God?

I wish...that would probably be easier. I need to decide on the religious persuasion of a character and then pick the brain of the priest, pastor etc. to get my facts right.

Don't let them get you!

Can we have a vague basic synopsis of what you're working on Andrea? Or do you want to keep it secret for a while. :)

Well, the Reader's Digest version is that a man (or woman) of the cloth finds that they've chosen the wrong vocation and must make the choice about which way to go.

I didn't just come up with the idea of making my lead character a Biology teacher on the spur of the moment, you know! Angry

Oops, actually, just remembered, I did. Apologies. Should have made him a driving instructor. No bloody research needed for that. (Not much for a teacher actually - tee-hee!)

Bah! Driving Instructor characters - occasionally works but always a cliché. Not far off is Teachers, but their a lot easier to make interesting.

The fact that he is a teacher is almost irrelevant. I needed him to be a man of science, but didn't want him to be too clever-clever and talking over the audience's head. (Sitcom fans being notoriously thick, of course.) Teaching GCSE science seemed about the right level. :)

I'd never do a driving instructor. Face it, Robin Askwith said all there was to be said about the profession in Confessions Of A Driving Instructor. Why try and better genius?

Thought that would get your interest! :P

Right, yeah, you weren't expecting me to say that...

No, indeedy...

Well then... Errr

Ahh. So it could be a Rabbi who fancies a bacon sandwich? Depending on which religious leader you happen to find. :)

You and your Jew obsession!

Cool Wave

If you wanted to distance the Teacher thing more, you could make them a Supply Teacher? Then the scenes in school could be like the standup bits at the start of Seinfeld.

"What's the deal with men's nipples?"

Good guess, but no. :)

:D

Yeah, maybe you're right, maybe he should be a Supply Teacher who stands in front of a brick wall, whilst one of the schoolkids plays slap bass...? Hmmmm... *ponders*

Laughing out loud

Throw in a Kramer character to play it safe. Although, I'd step lightly over a 'Contest' episode involving kids and teachers.

Oh don't. I've actually already had to re-write scene 2 between the lead and his mate (the games teacher) because I'm worried about paedo accusations. :(

You should be proud of what you are Tim! :D

It's a shame the image of a child and an adult on screen will never truly feel innocent again, no matter how nice the Worther's Originals are.

My mother just realized that those commercials are dubbed. :S

I hate the way I'm completely frigging paranoid. For example, in scene 3 Simon (our lead character) is queuing for the bus with pupils from his school. He has an amusing chat (about nothing particularly dodgy) with a little girl pupil... Now I'm worried I should make the little girl a little boy instead - in case it looks dodgy a teacher talking to a female pupil outside of school... Then isn't it just as dodgy him being friendly with a little boy? Aaagghhhh! I think I might just go to the police and ask to be stuck in the nonce's wing now, just to save time. :(
