£20 is rather tempting. But I've never seen the show, so not sure if I'd like it enough to splash the cash. Even if it is a bargain...

The Welshman was Denzil, and he liked wood not bricks, although he liked all forms of DIY.

He enjoyed putting up his shelves. Then Morwenna played his hideous wife.

I've just watched the spin-off series "Mr Don and Mr George" on 4oD. I think the series was an interesting concept, but trying to expand the sketches over half-an-hour may have been a mistake.

You know your onions. So Denzil was Absolutely and Shadwell was Naked Video. Ok.
And Professor Denzil Dexter was The Fast Show, the American hippy professor who liked to talk about cardboard toobs.

She got stuck in the 'oover.

I know more about onions - I already have the DVD.

It was John Sparkes, I believe, who played Denzil and also a gruff Yorkshireman sitting in his outside toilet discussing his sexlife.

I remember seeing John Sparkes (did a standup about a wasp in a box) and Jeremy Hardy in a pub in Islington (I think) before they were discovered. Jeremy Hardy is keeping busy on panel games but whatever happened to the comedy genius that was John Sparkes?

That'll be Frank Hovis. Marvellous stuff!

The lucky Welsh! Very funny man.

I've been watching this show again on 4OD and I'm amazed how well it's stood the test of time.

Indeed. I guess it is partly because they avoid making any major references to anything topical at the time, so it does not age as much.

One of my favourite sketch shows, I'll probably have a look online for the DVD.
