British Comedy Guide

I get a little annoyed when......

1. People like Jon Culshaw and Rory Bremner are labelled as comedians. I know the impressions they do are hard etc and it takes skill to do that sort of thing, but apart from the impressions, I don't think they have a whole lot in their locker. It's an easy form of comedy although I'm aware that it must take ages to perfect someone's voice.

2. People constantly tell jokes about George Bush, surely every joke that could ever be told about him has been told. It's so boring now, ok we get it, he's stupid and shouldn't be president. Same with McCain, he's old, great! Sarah Palin's quite hot, Barack is black, I'm sick of it.

3. People keep going on and on and on about the credit crunch.

I have a thread I think you might enjoy Mike. https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/1652

Bremner is a writer as well as an impressionist. Culshaw also. They write comedy sketches and they perform them. Bremner writes stand-up routines and performs them. How is he not a comedian?

I saw him a few times on Mock the Week and all he had was impressions. I wouldn't call them comedians, they pop up on shows every now and again to do the voices and off they go. I watched Culshaw on a few different shows and all anyone seemed to ask him was "What would George Bush have to say about this?" and off he went.

To me, when someone says 'Tony Blair' all I can picture is Jon Culshaw doing Tony Blair. Is this not over-exposure or maybe 'doing too much of the same impression, do somebody else for goodness sake', as I call it now?

Quite. Mike Yarwood on the other hand was just a bloke who did impressions.

It's some of my favorites.
You can begin hating me now. Pleased
