The fact that ME (might), Bussell? Something you want to tell us??

Pipe down, Stott, before I give you a Fruedian slap.
I wonder if he'll pull any funny faces in this.
I liked Phoenix Nights and his stand up shows, but oh I don't know. He's not someone whose next move I anxiously await.
Until we have a better idea of what this show is exactly, I've moved this thread to the Other British Comedy forum.
Quote: Aaron @ October 8 2008, 5:29 PM BSTI get the (entirely factually baseless) impression that general consensus is that whilst Langham was a bit of a naughty boy, he just f**ked up majorly, and is actually a jolly decent guy. Whilst Kay is just an uncaring, ruthless c**t.
I know which of them I'd rather leave my children with, and it's not our jolly northern chum.
That is very sound logic that.
Having a huge ego is equally as bad as downloading kiddie porn and the day the court system realises that is the day our streets will be safe.
Mark Lawson gave this a glowing write-up in yesterday's Guardian.
Quote: Badge @ October 10 2008, 1:55 AM BSTJust read about this in the Radio Times, and it seems like the normally reliable BSG has got the show title wrong. It's actually called "Peter Kay's Britain's Got the Pop Factor..." etc etc etc.
It appears as if Channel 4 have added Peter Kay's name to the title in their schedule information (presumably to try and attract people to watch it) but the actual show doesn't have his name in it. I'll double-check the title sequence on Sunday though as I'm not 100% sure.
Quote: Seefacts @ October 8 2008, 5:05 PM BSTYeah, he fell out with both Spikey and Fitzmaurice.
And Daniel Kitson (who was in a few episodes of Nights) can't stand Kay either.
Any idea why/when?
I used to love Phoenix Nights and That Peter Kay Thing. Watched episode of Phoenix last weekend and wondered what I was thinking.

Kay's incessant hogging of the limelight. "Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights", the accepting of a writing award without the other two.
As for Kitson, I think he just fell out with him and didn't like how he was treated on the show.
Apparently Kay would routinely screw over new comics - for example when asked the name of a rough place in the area, Kay gave a false answer that would make the new comic look stupid.

Is this for real? You'd seriously leave your kids with Langham, in the knowledge that, while he may not physically abuse them, hed almost certainly have at least a semi-on in his trousers, every time they went near him?
I'd be more worried leaving children with a member of the Labour Party.
I remember when Phoenix Nights first came out, I had not heard of Peter Kay before, and I absolutely loved it. When 'That Peter Kay Thing' was released on DVD I received it as a Christmas present and loved that too. I also think that both the top of the towers and bolton albert halls live dvds are great. However when I first saw 'Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere' I was a bit disappointed and felt that it was more of a McGuinness project than a Kay one. But what happened after Max and Paddy? Nothing really, a spoof fitness dvd, a comic relief single, a few chat show appearences here and there, an autobiography (I liked that one) but really nothing new. I couldn't help but think Kay had sold out and was never going to produce any new material. It will be interesting to see what this new show is like although I can't help but think it is going to try to be like 'Little Britain'.
I recently watched series one of Phoenix Nights recently and could no longer remember what all the fuss was about, although I do think the second series is better. I also watched Max and Paddy again and enjoyed it more than the first time around.
Some people suggest that Kay has fallen out with a lot of the people that he worked with. I don't know if any of this is true but I think I can maybe see why. If you watch the outakes from the 'Phoenix Nights' DVDs, whilst he has a laugh with Paddy, he often seems to be genuinely annoyed that he has to keep re-doing scenes. Also if I remember correctly, on the commentary for 'That Peter Kay Thing' he comments on the episode 'Eyes Down' suggesting that Fitzmaurice might have taken the idea and used it for the BBC comedy of the same name.
What a total dick. Fitzmaurice didn't even write Eyes Down, AFAIK. He's just spiteful.

Eyes Down? Wasn't that written/created by a woman? I heard it was the younger sister of the actress Margi Clarke.

He'd be in no such knowledge.
None of us, including you, has any idea what Langham thinks.
But I severely doubt it would be that!
