They used to say 'grouse' a lot when I lived in Melbourne. 'Grouse' meant good. It took me a while to figure this out. Also their word for chav was 'bogan'.

Yeah, I went to Australia this year and they kept using Bogan to mean Chav.

So what do these 'real' Aussies say?

Instead of 'Strewth, that guy's a spunk'.

?

:)

Oh zooo, that's so 80s. Laughing out loud

It does vary somewhat. Some say "Gosh, that gent has a jolly charming genetic profile!"

*adds to vocabulary*

Mmm, Bogan is Chav. We also use "nugget" for "pillock".

Other common terms are "dirty bastard", "filthy bastard", "f**ker", "fag-nut", "prick", "arse-licker", "shit-faced" / "arse-faced" / "rooted" / "hammered" / "slammed" / "screwed" (drunk).

How terrible is it to call someone a "flaming gola"?

There's also the worrying trend of young people just calling each other "c**t" in the way we used to use "mate".

"Flaming galah"? Just means daft, but is often said with more aggression.

It makes for entertaining eulogies.

A'igh', me ol' c**t?

:| Oh Aaron. I know the game's not as popular as it once was, but this..?

Ah I seee.

You do realise that almost no white person in this country under the age of about 52 watches cricket, don't you?

And that I would rather have my bollocks fed through a rusty mangle than watch ANY kind of sport?

I do now!

And my turn to lack comprehension - what's a mangle?
