I have never listened to the Ricky Gervais podcasts because you had to pay for them. So Karl Pilkington is a bit of a mystery to me. Are they online anywhere? Probably on BitTorrent if I could be arsed to look.

They used to have his XFM shows available for free download on the XFM radio website, though just had a quick look and can't see them - looks like they've revamped it and probably removed a lot of archive stuff.

Anyway, the show was essentially the same as the podcasts - Gervais and Merchant getting terrific humour out of their producer Pilkington.

I think I still have 'em on disc if you'd like to hear some of it. There were some hilarious episodes. Don't have their newer stuff, though.

Just googled the xfm podcasts, they're on torrent too.

Speaking of Podcasts, anyone else a fan of Adam and Joe? They also did some funny parodies on films using toys e.g. Toytanic, Saving Private Lion, and Guy Richtoy films - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX9crnz6vQg

Re: John McCririck. I took my wife to the Ivy once for a special celebration. We looked forward to it for ages. Not, of course, "what will the food be", but "I wonder what celebs there will be". Did we see Pierce Brosnan? Kelly Brook? Tom and Nicole? Nope. Just fat bastard McCririck stuffing his fat face on the table next to us.

I quite fancy Ingrid Tarrant.

Laughing out loud

He's a self hating bore.
(and unusually, a self-hater who's got it right.)

But it's probably Celtic boss Gordon Strachan who's the funniest. Dead pan genius.

Ooo. That man is everything I hate in a person. What an obnoxious, rude, self-important prick. And ginger.

Yeah, ace isn't it.

If you're not a football fan though, how can you know who he is? Or did you gauge all that from that 2 minute video!

Always found Strachan quick-witted and a nice change from the standard, dull, tedious quotes one always gets. Also looks like he can take a joke, unlike some managers.

Some other good ones were:

Reporter: So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today?
Strachan: What areas? Mainly that big green one out there...

Reporter: Is that your best start to a season?
Strachan: Well I've still got a job so it's far better than the Coventry one, that's for sure.

...He said if there was a dead body lying in the penalty area the ball would hit it on the head several times a season which he said is more than Lundekvam can manage. He said referees should book Lundekvam for timewasting every time he goes up for a corner

Those are great.

Yes, he's probably a pain in the arse, but he's a good thing in football.

Brian Blessed and Ian Holloway are great calls.

Robert Downey Jr. Noel Gallagher. Jools Holland. Mark Kermode.

For me Morrissey is a very funny man and gave good account of himself on J Ross a few years back.

I thought he seemed very awkward on JR, but he's a funny man. My favourite Morrissey quip was this:

Interviewer:
If you'd written the song 'Reasons To Be Cheerful, Pt III', what would be in it?

Morrissey:
I think it would have been an instrumental.

I'm one of those deranged, Morrissey obsessives.

This is my favourite Moz quote:

Interviewer: Did you hear t.A.T.u.'s version of "How Soon Is Now?"

Morrissey: Yes, it was magnificent. Absolutely. Again, I don't know much about them.

Interviewer: They are teenage Russian lesbians.

Morrissey: Well, aren't we all?

Ha!

Morrissey is a total hero.
