The Peter Serafinowicz Show

Went to a screening of The Peter Serafinowicz Show tonight; just a pilot, but very funny. Mainly focuses on his range of impressions to parody adverts, TV shows and the like so some of it requires a bit of knowledge to fully 'work', but there's still humour there. Reminded me of (admittedly very little) what I've seen of Mike Yarwood. Oh, and it's written by Peter and his big-brother James.

Other notables spotted:
Graham Linehan (Peter's brother-in-law, apparently)
Sarah Alexander (apparently she's pregnant with their first child)
Tamsin Greig

It'll broadcast in November, probably BBC Two.

I really enjoyed it. But I like anything with Peter in!
If you liked that 'O! News' thing that was on YouTube, you'll love it.

Peter's great (Spaced, SOTD, Look Around You.)

I loved O! News especially The Beatles/Apple/I-Pod thing.

"John invited the iPod 30 years ago." Then there's a picture of a fridge or something,. Laughing out loud

I never saw that O! News sketch. In fact, I'd not heard of it until about 7:25 tonight. If anyone can link to it, I'd be interested.

You know there's an element of fact in the Lennon/iPod thing - although he didn't invent it, Lennon had the 1960's equivalent of an iPod - a portable (luggable at 15kg) jukebox that held 40 singles, that he took on tour with him:

I suppose that's the origin of the idea for joke, eh?

The BBC have just put up a preview of this show on YouTube... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ9_c7Pon6s

Looks like it is going to be one of those 50/50 sketch shows - some really good stuff, some really bad.

Really looking forward to this, I just can't imagine it being bad at all Peter Serafinowicz is a very funny man.

By the way that video doesn't work, says it's a Private video.

Ditto that.

Martin, do you like Dead Ringers?

I liked the first couple of series of Dead Ringers then got a bit bored with it.

You'll probably be ok with TPS then, at least for a while. It's erm... Well it's not quite what I'd have expected after his previous work, but it's not bad at all.

Ah ok. Lots of impressions then? It's not catchphrase based though is it? I really loved that O! News sketch, hope it's more of stuff like that.

It's basically about 90-95% impressions, with a few original segments - but even they are arguably spoofs of something or other, just a lot less so.

And no, don't think that there was anything written as a catchphrase.

Ah okay, well it sounds very promising.

Love it!
