Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? Page 7

And with reference to the different/better debate above, she's the reason imo. I think it's both very different and better, from the few LL eps I've caught in the past. The conflict Thelma introduced into the sequel was what made it so entertaining, for me. She steals the show in some eps, so good was her characterisation and backstory with Terry, that you wouldn't know she didn't even appear in the original series, I think I'm right in saying. Great character and superbly cast and played.

Saw Rodney Bewes in a one man Diary of a Nobody at the Edinburgh Fringe years ago . Knew he was going to dry and sure enough he did . Good crowd who were all there to see Bob from Likely Lads so good earner for him but not great . Better telly actor with Clement/LaFrenais' great scripts .

Thelma was absolutely gorgeous, with fabulous legs 🥰

Watched the Christmas special tonight, for the third (?) time - it still stands up well, BUT no Audrey.............🤔😘

I watched one the other night

They were in the pub at lunchtime - pint of lager and pint of mild, sausages and mustard, a beef sandwich and a pickle, a scotch egg and crisps....

82 pence 👀

I just finished watching the first series of this. Favourite episode was the dinner party one, which was like a proto-Abigail's Party.

At some point in Series 2 it feels like they got into a Morecambe & Wise-ish groove. Best episode might be "The Great Race".

By far one of the best sitcoms ever written, it could have gone on for another two series with its timeless class points and observations. But at 27 episodes in total it was smarter to quit while ahead.

Would've been interesting to see what they're up to nowadays but unfortunately Rodney Bewes is no longer with us.

They could do a one-off episode, where after the song goes "What became of those people we used to be" it cuts to Terry laying flowers at Bob's grave, whispering "good lad" and wiping a tear from his eye, before it fades to black.

Two drawbacks to that - it wouldn't be a very long episode, and it wouldn't be very f**ken funny. But it would be poignant or some shit

Given his age and the bitter row between them, I don't think for one moment James Bolam would entertain the idea in the slightest

And why would he mention me?

Yeah, then as at the end of (spoiler alert) "Carrie", you could have a skeletal Bob sit up in his grave, saying "Who the f**k is Goodlad?"
