Close enough!
Dead Set - Charlie Brooker's Horror Show Page 16
I saw the obnibus rerun last night.
Enjoyable (and very gory for TV) but not that original.
Same old, same old, 28 days later, .... but fun.
Loved how E4 took the piss out of BB though, even though it's a fellow C4/E4 programme.
Davina probably had a fun time doing it.
And wasn't that thick blonde ex-BB housemate great as being herself.... i.e. thick and shallow.
Worth watching once.
Oh, and did anyone get annoyed by so much unnecessary camera-shake.
Maybe a bit of shake to add the chaotic element, but not throwing the camera all over the place.
Question???? Why couldn't the zombies open doors or climb over fences???
Yes - camera work like that is neither necessary, nor clever.
I didn't like it, it seemed confused and a bit pointless.
The something sinsiter happens in the world of Big Brother was a goody.
But when they killed off all the crew etc it became just another low budget zombie shocker, and pretty inferior to Sean.
It also felt nauseatingly smug.
Ben Elton took the piss way better in that book he wrote on the subject.
Cos zombies are thick as shit.
And it fit with the story.
I never notice camera shake. Luckily, if I actually did it would probably make me sea sick.

Yes.... "Dead Famous."
I read that a few months ago.
And his "Chart Throb" book mocks X Factor.
It's strange that Ben Elton books don't really get made into films or TV shows.
They made his book Stark into a series. Didn't see much of it, but what I saw was ok.
Oh yeah! I read his Big Brother piss take book a while ago. Not bad. But certainly not as good or enjoyable as I found Dead Set.
I hated Stark. Godwaful tripe. The only Ben Elton book I've enjoyed has been Popcorn. My problem with his writing is that whenever I read one of his sentences, I can hear him hectoring me.
I liked Popcorn and Dead Famous. You have to take it as a bit of fun.
You people are reading machines.
Really enjoyed it, still not a touch on Day or Dawn though.

I assume it's an easy way of covering up special effect inadequacies.
I still think that Big Brother should be run like a drug trial. There should be one house they televise and one 'placebo' BB house. The people on the show have no idea whether they are going to come out having been splashed all over Heat magazine for several weeks or if they'll come out and nobody has heard of them.
Oh that would be good!
That is a fine idea!
