But why?

It is a sin to bare witness to his incredible godlike roundhouse kick. To do so is could result in a plague of Chuck Norris roundhouse kicks to every first born in your family.

Aah I only watch the fabled kick through a piece of smoked glass.

I knew some one who watched one directly, he exploded.

I don't like Not Going Out, Saved By The Bell or Cheers (which you've got twice).

Little Miss Jocelyn can just f**k itself though. I can't think of a redeeming feature about the show at all. Unless we count that it's not on continuous repeat.

Simply superb summary. You should be writing blurb for TV Quick. Loved it.

AND THE FINAL RESULTS:

Nobody actively disliked any of the following nominated comedies enough to post an objection in the thread:

UNIVERSALLY LOVED

Steptoe And Son, Blackadder, Porridge, Dad's Army, QI, Black Books, Futurama, Fawlty Towers, Hancock's Half Hour, Yes Minister and Yes, Prime Minister, Absolute Power, The Thick Of It, Viz, Rising Damp,Not The Nine O'Clock News, A Bit Of Fry And Laurie, Peep Show, One Foot In The Grave, The Rise And Fall of Reginald Perrin, Seinfeld, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report,The HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy (radio), Victoria Wood - As Seen On TV, Lead Balloon, Colin's Sandwich

while no defenders could be found for the following atrocities

UNIVERSALLY LOATHED
Little Miss Jocelyn, The Liver Birds, ...And Then You Die, 'Orrible, Get A Grip, Will And Grace, The Crouches, Mad About Alice, According To Bex,Babes In The Wood, Dharma And Greg

Seems a reasonably fair analysis to me! :)

Interesting that a lot of the disliked comedies come from recent times. I'll put that down to the stinkers from earlier decades having vanished from our memories. Obviously The Liver Birds has to take a special prize for still being universally hated nearly forty years after it was first aired. And if it hadn't been for Timbo's inexplicable intervention, Carla Lane would have had Bread in the hated list as well.

Plus the bad ones from the past we have nostalgic affection for, regardless of quality.

In 20 years people might look back fondly on Will and Grace!

*shudders*

I don't think I've ever seen the Liver Birds. Who are these people who watch it? Are you either quite old, so saw it at the time, or just curious and sought it out? I always sort of believe that everyone here is about the same age, even though I also know that isn't true.

Well, I never minded it really. Quite funny at times. I feel ashamed.

I'm (just) old enough to remember it from the 1970s Matthew, although Sooty was the one who nominated it. Although according to Wikipedia it came back for one series in 1996, which passed me by completely.

I look quite fondly on Will and Grace now! Well, Jack and Karen.

I do remember it coming back, though I never watched it.

Didn't Ant and Dec do a version or did I dream that?
