Universally Loved And Loathed Page 33

Yeah, just like I believe Buffy is real and Eastenders. It's definitely not JUST A TV SHOW...

Can I just say that I think Sex And The City is OK too. Not loving it quite as much as my other half who has watched every single episode, but definitely not hating it. It has some very funny dialogue, and very sharp scripts, each short episode usually managing to tell four complete stories plus feeding stuff into various ongoing plotlines.

NB It's probably fair to say that Sex And The City isn't aimed at Dungeons And Dragons players, in the same way you will probably never convince zooo to read a Warhammer novel. One is either a Dungeons And Dragons person or a Sex And The City person.

Sex and the City actually makes me mad watching it. It isn't just a show about superficial people but glorifies superficiality.
I'm not sure where D&D comes in to all this though?

Warhammer novels be long, along with MMORPGs foam weapons, and Startrek uniforms for chubby people, belong to a sub genre of geekiness I don't venture into.

You know being serious about RPGs for a sec. When I was into them, it was all about shared story telling, and more like drama improv.

It seems a shame that anything creative, and fantastical gets the word geek slapped on it.

Like Steven Fry and Ursula Le Guinn denying their scifi writers.

If I can write quickly, and I hope creatively. It owes alot more to RPGs than literature or TV watching.

I am an unreformed, and unashamed geek.

It's good to be proud of being diferent.

Like I said, it's not a show to be watched to somehow 'understand women' or some such crap. It's just a TV show. (and I think it's written by a gay man anyway) If I knew anyone in real life like the women on SATC I'd run a mile from them.
Journalists seem to have convinced everyone that all the women who watch the show are dumb gullible c**ts who want to be like them or something.
We don't.

Check out the previous posts, Curt. Sooty was comparing SATC fans unfavourably with D&D players. Except he called them S&S fans just to add extra confusion. That's why I continued the comparison.

It was more of a flatshare I was in, where my female flatmates would watch it religiously for hours at a time.

And when I say religiously, I mean more fixedly and worshipfully then friends who would fast and meditate for days.

Perhaps they were especially gullible, but they really viewed it as a transendent experience.

Snnf I just wanted to watch Walker Texas Ranger, is that such a sin?

Piece of advice, Sooty. Never, ever, put that in a cover letter.

Wouldn't dream of it, even if it is the truth.

We must all lie for our art.

Ah well, fair enough. Maybe they were mental.
But anyone who's obsessed with any TV show is a bit mental. Can't we all find some way to bond over being mentals? :)

Why don't we dig up some French sitcoms?

No one could possibly like them.

Or talk about how ace Dr Who is, it really is.

I would almost certainly like French sitcoms if they came with subtitles. There are some fantastic French comedy films.
