Quote: Jack Massey @ September 16 2008, 10:59 PM BSTFather Ted is underated. It is just brilliant and is fully deserving of its high praise.
I enjoyed the small run of Father Ted, alot of it was cheesy yet still good to watch! The best episode was possibly 'speed 3', nice parody and it made me laugh! The episode was dreamt up by the creators when they decided to "see if you could make a worse sequel than Speed 2"

Well, other than the mind-warping comic inversion of scientific ideas, no.
Some peoples' definition of overrated is confusing.
I would say Little Britain is overrated.
But I don't really see how Alan Partridge is. Unless you mean by comedy fans, rather than the general public... but even then.
Overrated shouldn't just mean 'quite a lot of people I know like it but I don't'. There's got to be more to it than that.
Yeah, these overrated threads are tricky. You have to judge your own opinions against your own opinion of what everyone else's opinions are. On average.
Ah. It's aaaaall maths.

If it helps you any, I'm going to add Black Books to my list.
But who is it overrated by? Most people probably haven't even heard of it!

Just, you know, people. Us. You. We. Them. No?
Glad we cleared that up then.

Even though that doesn't make sense.

...er... prezunctly?
Quote: Aaron @ September 16 2008, 11:32 PM BSTI almost said "Sorry zooo." as well.
Oh yeah, totally forgot The Young Ones. Would have said Partridge, but I've only seen a few episodes so don't feel it fair to judge.
You think the Young Ones is overrated? Maybe compared to more modern stuff, but back in the '80s, it was cutting edge.

Ok a bunch of blokes arguing, with the contents of the StarTrek leftovers bin thrown in.

Perhaps so - but in the 1980s is where it should have stayed. Encased in concrete if necessary.

Fawlty Towers - still enjoyable but too very slapstick
The Young Ones - still good but lacking killer punches.

Anyone who thinks that Father Ted or Blackadder is overated needs there head examining. There isn't a bad episode of Father Ted, and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th series of Blackadder are flawless.
There's no way Red Dwarf is overated...watch Marooned or Gunmen of the Apocalypse.
1. The Office (UK)
2. Outnumbered
3. Outnumbered again.
For me, I hasten to add.
I know others like them but they're twats.
