Zooo's zooming Who?

Just saw this....

'It looks like it's all systems go for a big-screen version of Doctor Who following reports that David Tennant is keen on the project.

Newspaper reports say that Tennant will sign up for a movie version of the hit series as part of the deal to return for another full-length TV run of the sci-fi hit.

But don't expect Billie Piper or Catherine Tate to be joining the Doctor in the TARDIS as the show's outgoing producer Russell T Davies wants Catherine Zeta-Jones to play his companion.

Davies, who was responsible for reviving the hit series in 2005 said: "Being from Wales myself, I'd love to have Catherine Zeta-Zone a companion for the Doctor. To have anyone else would be inconceivable." Inconceivable? Hmmm... we think he may have had his tongue firmly in his cheek when he said that - or maybe not. Who knows?

Do you think a new film version of Doctor Who will prove to be a blockbuster? Who do you think should play his companion? Let us know what you think...'

This is 90% bollocks, I reckon. But the Who movie will definitely happen with Tennant on board.

No movie please. If there really is one made, then I fully and wholeheartedly support that zooo be the Doctor's companion, and that the obligatory romance storyline is included.

Thanks.

Hear! Hear!

Not sure this film would be a good idea. Tennant's great on telly, and reportedly great on stage, but has he really got the presence for the big screen? Dunno about that.

And what kind of a different story would they be able to tell that they couldn't on the tv show? I wonder. Something more unsubtle and bombastic than the last (albeit entertaining) episode of season 4?

It depends on the writer. And if Spielberg directs it could be good.
Me I'd set it in Who's past on Galifrey before he became the maverick man in a police box - and telling us why he did. Crime, intrigue, action, sci fi, a detective story the whole shebang.

F**k it I want to write it!

Killing off the Time Lords was unforgiveable.

You really think they won't make some kind of reappearance? Come on, this is Doctor Who we're talking about. They can kill people/races off at the drop of a hat and bring them back next week.

The problem of going too far back into the Doctor's past is who plays him. I don't think William Hartnell (or Richard Hurndall come to that) is availbale.

The obvious subject for a big screen blockbuster would be to rewind to the Time War, but for that you would want Eccleston rather then Tennant.

It just makes it look plonky, they killed off the daleks too didn't they, ahem!

I think it's likely that the interviewer asked him 'would you refuse to do a film if it was part of your next Dr Who contract' and he said no. That then being reported as 'Ooh, Tennant is desperate to do a film!'

I'm not really a fan of TV shows making film versions. As they would probably stop making the TV show for a year or two to concentrate on the bloody film.

Obviously I'd go and see it though. But, it'd probably be poo.

But what about the MORBIUS CONTROVERSY!!!

For any non-geeks out there, there was some controversy over a scene in The Brain of Morbius which could have been seen to indicate there had been previous incarnations of The Doctor before the one that Hartnell played.

They'd probably just say the actor was a previous incarnation.
