Was the Duty Free one any good?? I had it set to record on Sky Plus but it clashed with Casino and I was watching something else so took it off record.

Yes, it's hard to imagine any sitcom nearing the top ten programmes these here days. Perhaps the other two/three sides were on strike!

Actually, it does still happen. The highest rated show of the decade so far is a sitcom (2001's Only Fools and Horses) and My Family still posts some very high audience ratings. But I know what you mean...

Alright, ya friggin' ingrates.

It's the last one of these tomorrow night, Tues 2nd December, a series that appears to have taken about half a year to get through, given all the bleedin' football et al. that they've interspersed the run with.

This last show to feature is, arguably , one of the few geniune ITV comedy clasics, The New Statesman.

Rik Mayall at his peak.

It comes from a point when ITV had a really good run of Sunday night comedies, around 10pm; Whoops Apocalypse, Spitting Image, Hot Metal and Hale & Pace being other fine examples from this time slot.

Oh yes. Thanks for reminding me! (I'm bound to forget)

Nobody will forget will I'm around. Oh no!

Go on, it's Rik! Bloody Hell!

Well that was that then. Pity there was no Rik involved.

Still, at least they made up for it with Anthony pissing Cotton putting his oar in and stating the bleedin' obvious.

Think this show highlighted what a genuine classic New Statesman is.

Missed it as I expected. We had rehearsals.

As a tribute to the late Reg Varney, ITV will repeat the On The Buses Comedy Classics on the 11th. :D
