British Comedy Guide

Last thread for a very long time...

I promise.

Anyhoo, what Journalism clichés do you like or hate?

I'll get the ball rolling with the following:

1. "Well respected member of the business community"=he was a drug peddling thug.

2." Jobless loner [Insert name] lives with his mum" =he fits the profile, "GET HIM"

3. "An insider told us"= we can't be arsed to research our facts so we made up that quote

4. "A nation mourns". No it doesn't.

5."Kept himself to himself"=(see 2)

"Her boyfriend made an emotional appeal for her safe return..." = Boyfriend killed her.

"We just want her back home..." = Instead of under the garden patio.

"Tired and emotional"=Drunk and abusive (usually only used for politicians).

"Posh attends LA party" = Nothing exciting happened today to report.

"Gorgeous girl murdered" - Cos it makes you feel the loss so much more if she was gorgeous.

Good one.

Ok let's widen the list by incorporating sound bytes by politicians.

I'll get the ball rolling, etc..

1. "Lessons will be learned" = I'll tell the whinging f**kers what they want to hear and hope for the best.

2. "There will be a public enquiry" =No there won't, we'll cover it up and hope for the best.

3. "I will stand by my husband" = I'm not about to let the trollop reap the benefits of all my hard work.

"Educuation, education, education" = Mass murder, imperialism, and all the bullshit you can eat.

"I want to spend more time with my family"=The prime minister put a gun to my head and waited for me to sign my resignation letter.

*refers the whole thread to Yes Minister*

"I have full confidence in..." = He/she's got two weeks.

For government politicians... "What the public really cares about is better hospitals, improved education, record employment... (continues ad infinitum)"... in response to a difficult question they can't/won't answer

"First time buyers get temporary stamp duty gift" = I haven't got a f**king clue what to do in this economic crisis!

Def.

Laughing out loud

"This is the worst economic crisis in 60 years, people will be pissed off with us,"

=You've been hanging out with that Jaqui Smith tart, I didn't even get a kiss when you got out of bed this morning.
