Real Life Dialogue Page 2

Reminds me of an article I read on SFX. I think it was Stan Winston who said Return of the Jedi's speeder bike scene would have been awful, if speeder bikes were real.

The essence for him was creating something that looked real, but you know isn't.

Like I suppose those beautifully written scenes in Trainspotting.

One of the best things I overheard recently was something like this:

"...and one time they ran out of wafers so I was basically just kneeling there sticking my tongue out at a priest."

That's quite brilliant.

In town a few weeks ago, an old bloke on his mobile, saying quite angrily, "Will you PLEASE shut up about Jaffa Cakes, woman!"

I asked someone how they were going on with their contact lens'. she said..
'you know when you stick your finger in your eye?'
'yes,' I replied.
'well it's not like that'

I was in a caff in Swanage earlier in the year when an indignant chav mum shouted at the bloke bringing the food round (I hesitate to use the word 'waiter')
- "Oi we ordered TOAST with our hoops". Implying "we're not savages you know".

Again, fantastic.

That said, I was in Canterbury the other weekend and I heard this snippet of dialogue:

MOTHER:
Are you hungry?

KID:
Dunno.

MOTHER:
I've got a chicken nugget in my purse if you're hungry.

That is brilliant, that made me laugh out my mouth.

Overheard last night.

"When I was drinking I sold all my wife's ornaments and came home drunk one night and put up all my son's Star Trek figures."

That must have been embarassing to explain at the A&E!

Those beautifully written scenes written by the screenwriter and not that twerp Irvine Welsh!

Just felt that needed clarifying.

F**ken hell, that book was a shocking disappointment compared to the film. Pirate Truly a turd in the mouth of hell.

Huzzah! The book sucked, the film was one of the most visually stimulating things I ever did see.

Not to mention whip smart dialogue and a banging sound track.

F**ken ay, Holmes!!

Sootyj and Skibby von Skubmeister agree on sumptin'!

Well that and Fools and Horses.

But in fairness Trainspotting is such an awsome film you could use it to uncover paedophiles.
