Oh, and I'm extremely frustrated that there aren't more fans prominent on the site, and aware that some have been chased off after being ganged up on for liking something which isn't fashionable.

That's no reason to take it out on writers Azza.

Johnny Roulette (as a BSGer) is no more I believe?

I *heart* the forum, it is a place I enjoy hanging out, I just know I would never tell anyone on here if I had summit on TV, because it would be judged over-critically just to make some spurrious 'we don't favour anyone' point rather than fairly.

Well, I dunno. A lot of live music is intended to make people want to dance, or jump around, or punch the air excitedly, or sing along, or other physical reactions. And when the audience stand there bored looking at their watches instead, the band has definitely failed. I speak from experience here.

Well, to a degree, maybe that's true. But it is possible to enjoy live music without having any of those physical reactions. Is it possible to enjoy comedy without being amused?

My girlfriend sits stoney faced through comedy, even when she likes it.

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.

Ah, but she likes it, and that's the point. She is amused even if she doesn't show. Might not be fun for a live comic, but it's still a "success".

Possibly, but what's the point?

I feel I need a Venn diagram for this.

JR left of his own accord after refusing to even try and obey site rules. His being a writer is inconsequential.

Comedy is the only art form that is intended to elicit a certain response

If it isn't designed to elicit a response it isn't art. Whatever it is.

Good point. I won't post again at this time of night.

Of course, what I meant to say (?) was it's the only one where the intended "certain" response is so ... er... obvious.

Hence, someone says "I'm a comedian" at a party and the stranger goes "make me laugh", and if they don't make 'em laugh they are "crap".

The painter isn't asked to do a quick watercolour

So is cunnilingus art?

Or does it not work the other way around...?

I will never post this time again either. It's not so much that the intended response is so obvious it's that the response is so obviously noted if it has worked. That's a reaction to the 'art' form not a function of the art in it's creative err... when it was created. Painters are actually asked to do quick watercolours [comparatively there isn't such a thing as long ones], and a comedian isn't necessarily an artist.

No I think that is analingus.

Bloody hell, and I was having trouble articulating what I meant! :)

I think we agree. Comedy generally requires an immediate positive response. If it doesn't get it, the punters feel short changed.

I always thought Analingus was one of the archangels.

Every one knows it Ireland's favorite airline.

There is nobody on BSG worth falling out with yet.
