No I don't blame him really. I got my agent to send a script with my CV to the theatre and a few days later his agent phoned to say he'd absoluely love to be involved.
It can be a bit of a two-edged sword.
I had Nicholas Lyndhurst REALLY keen on a TV film I'd written.
His influence got it read ( Jane Tranter, no less) but then it stumbled.
At the time the 'preview' reveiws for After You've Gone were coming in and they were a bit ugly, and suddenley people weren't sure about him.
And because he pretty much brought it to the table, it's hard to say " We could always feature someone else"
I guess it would have gone a bit further now that he's the golden boy again.
Still it got it read along with an open invitation to send more stuff so - in the long run - it could pay off.
Same thing happened to me with Chris Langham.
Oh I so want that to be true.
It's not though is it.

How about this: Glitter and Langham set up a detective agency in a quaint little village, where they investigate minor crimes in a bumbly way. Glitter would utter the catchphrase 'That's another fine mess you've gotten me into!' at his computer, every time the police take it away.
Channel 5 would eat it up with a spoon.
I've just sent a script to Liza Goddard because she lives near me appararenty and owns a wine bar bistro, so if nothing happens I might at least get a discounted baguette. Oh and she has the best comedy timing I have seen on stage, as good as the best I mean.

As a Gallic bakery item? No.
As an actor? ....probably not.
I recently wrote a couple of sketches that would have been perfect for Paul Whitehouse to perform - I know what I want! I contacted his agent, but she told me that they can't pass scripts on for copyright reasons.
Therefore, I shall have to carry a copy of the script with me at all times and hope I bump into Mr Whitehouse one day.
