Telepathy in a script?

I'm working on a Sci-fi comedy script where three of the characters can talk to each other via telepaphy. The idea is that the audience can hear what they are saying to each other but no other characters would be able to hear.

How do you show this in a script? Is it basically a voice over? or an instruction like (TELEPAPHY) before you write the dialogue? Would you need to explain the telepathy in the description?

I was thinking something like this:

Person 1
(TELEPATHY) I can see you.

Person 2
(TELEPATHY) Yes, I can see you too.

But I'm not sure.

All suggestions or advice welcome. Thanks in advance!

I'd say that's fine. I'd change it to TELEPATHICALLY though.

Has telepathy cropped up in any sitcoms before? I seem to remember a bit in Spaced where Tim and Daisy communicate telepathically.

I thought of that one, too. But IIRC it was a normal VO that turned out to be telepathic in the end.

I wouldn't recommend that. VO is a tool within itself and you don't want to confuse the reader into thinking they're looking at narration.

Maybe put it in stage directions, then add V.O. to the character names ??

e.g.

THISBLOKE AND THATBLOKE NOW TALK TELEPATHICALLY TO EACH OTHER.

THISBLOKE: (V.O.)
I can see you.

THATBLOKE: (V.O.)
I can see you too.

ANOTHERBLOKE: (V.O.)
God, not MORE telepathic people! Shut up, you two!

THISBLOKE: (V.O.)
Sorry.

THATBLOKE: (V.O.)
Yeah, sorry, mate.

IMO, the way he's doing it already is fine.

Unless the readed doesn't know what telepathy means then I'm sure it will be fine.

And if he/she doesn't know what telepathy means... they shouldn't be reading scripts for a living.

You pronounced a word wrong though.

David's solution is the way to go.

There's a running gag in How I Met Your Mother where they can all communicate with each other through telepathy. Except Robin, she's Canadian.
