Family Tree

Another thread got me thinking about our roots and family history.

I've never tracked down any of my distance relatives in any great detail, but from what I can gather if I go back far enough I'm 50% Irish (my Great (Great) Grandfather built the railways and was probably drunk) and 50% Scottish (So was most likely a drunk), so by modern standards I'm awfully boring.

Oh and apparantly I'm related to the first mayor of Bolton - That's about all I know.

Anyone else have anything more interesting?

My mum was born in Wales! But only cos her mum happened to be there, I think.
Apart from that I'm all English except my great great (great?) grandfather on my dad's side called Cayetano who was from Argentina. They all gave their sons South American sounding names like Silvario and Nareszeo until my dad, who is called Ron.

Boring sod.

More interesting than being Irish...

Laughing out loud Ron.

teehee.

I know none of my roots, really! I'm almost fully English, but with about an 8th Irish for definite. My nan on my dad's side's maiden name was always thought to be German or something, but I just searched - and it's derived from a place in Lancashire!

Surely if you go back more than 2 generations you'll be German or something random.

That's probably true, but my parents have never asked their parents about it, and the latter don't really know anything anyway!

I'm so German it's almost embarrassing. But I'm quite sure that my family tree can be extrapolated into an English future. :D

But you have really nice sausage and a..... rich History....

Laughing out loud

Wow you guys really do have pretty deep roots in your home countries. That's cool.
I just learned this past weekend that my great grandmother was German. That's all I know. Besides that the rest of that side of the family are deeply rooted in the western part of the Netherlands.

Not to mention our rich sausage history!

Mmmmmm German sausage. I don't care how gay it sounds I love the German sausage.

I bet you do.

Sorry Curt you had it coming - oo er

Finck I think you should hold a BSG German class. I'd be in it, though I'd probably sit at the back.
