I love being on the BCG! I had some very good moments (some bizarre ones as well) here with lots of great guys...and I think my English has improved a bit thanks to you.

Well done Gordon. Did you get that note from your Swiss roll >_<

Cheers guys!

Woo! :D

I didn't even know you weren't English Gordon Huh? Wow!
I'd love to be able to speak another language that well.

What is your first language?

Ai Sprooch isch nie gnueg!

Congratulations Gordon.

There were two famous Gordon Bennetts who might have been the source of your name:

- James Gordon Bennett Snr was a Scottish-born journalist, famous in the US for founding the New York Herald and conducting the first ever newspaper interview.

- His son, of the same name, was more interested in fast cars, planes and women. He used his inheritance to sponsor the Bennett Trophy in motor racing from 1900 to 1905 and in 1906 established a hot-air balloon race that is still held today. In fact, Gordon Bennett Jnr was probably the first international playboy.

He is also the holder of the Guinness Book of Records entry for "Greatest Engagement Faux Pas". One very drunken evening he turned up late to a posh party held by his future in-laws, and ended up urinating into a fireplace in full view of everyone. The engagement, unsurprisingly, was broken off, and Mr Bennett left New York to pursue his playboy habits in Paris.

What is your first language?

German...well...Swiss German which is a kind of yokel-version of the real thing. In fact, before Kindergarten I only spoke Hungarian because my parents were born in Budapest.

I think this one is the source of my nickname. I adopted this name because OFAH is my favourite Britcom and it was one of Del Boy's catchphrases.

Why do they call the Swiss roll Swiss roll? I don't think it's a typical Swiss thing.

Even Wiki doesn't know why it's called a Swiss roll.

I don't mind taking the credit for it.

Jawohl!

I haven't had swiss role in years! I can't remember if I like it or not

Maybe it's called that because the Swiss flag is red and white like the jam and cream? :S

Or maybe I'm just talking s**t! Laughing out loud :$

The Polish and Austrian flags are red & white as well...but maybe you're right.
We have them here too but we don't call them Swiss-thingy. I like the ones with lemon-cream filling.
