Russell Crowe IS Bill Hicks?
Kick ass, Crowe looks a lot like Hicks these days check it out:

Is the Bill Hicks story that cinematic? Great comedian, unquestionably, and a tragic loss, but was his life story that striking? Outside of his stand up routines?
I think Bill Hicks life is best expressed through watching and reading his work. Don't really see what a film would bring to his story. I just hope if one is made it doesn't get schmaltzy about his death from cancer. Bill Hicks life story is interesting to a degree - performing stand-up in clubs from the age of about 14, the degree to which he was largely ignored in his home country, the whole Letterman show incident... but enough to sustain a film? I'd prefer just to watch his great stand-up. One of the great sadnesses I have about Bill's tragically early death was I'd love to hear what he would have said about 9/11, Bush Jr, Irag/Afghanistan et ectera. We don't have a comic of his incitefulness and ruthless honesty to make us really laugh hard/think hard around. (Though Jon Stewart is great, but in a different way.)
David Cross is a pretty good substitute.
Innnteresting. Crowe would do well, not sure about his comic timing though. Can't recall any comedies he's done.
