Can anyone remember an old beer add...
The only line I can remember is
'Oh no said Abdul, Gravitational Pull, makes you sup, standing up at the bar'
This has haunted me for ages...
It was about so arabs and colonials arguing about a certain beer.
Any ideas?
They sometimes used to ask for an "Indian" in Sheffield meaning an IPA (India Pale Ale).
I suppose that's racist.

Well if you're an IPA man you can't be all bad! 
I drink a lot of Guinness because it's available almost everywhere, but I can't turn down a nice IPA. I just cracked open a bottle of Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout and discovered that it goes really well with a nice 85% dark chocolate.

I was drooling for a minute there - until you mentioned the chocolate.
You can't have chocolate with beer - it has to be crisps or nuts - although I do like Young's Double Chocolate beer.
I like beer and crisps, also nuts.

I'm not a big fan of crisps and beer snacks in the U.S. are mainly comprised of peanuts and I'm allergic to them. I like cashews and pistachios, but they aren't my favorite beer accompaniment. I actually prefer to drink beer on its own, but I like a cold one with a nice Mexican meal.

I believe the original poem was by William Percy French.
A music-hall act, called something like Frank Crummin, made probably the first recording of the poem set to music. This was not the version used in the ad.
If you haven't dozed off yet, Abdul's adversary was Ivan Skavinsky Skavar.
I could go on. You'd probably prefer me to go off.
Spent an enjoyable 30 minutes watching the ads on youtube, sadly they didn't have the one I remembered.
