The World of Wooster

Anyone else remember this gem from the 1960s with Ian Carmichael and Dennis Price?

I've always wondered why it's not had any re-showings but the answer is apparently all too final: http://www.phill.co.uk/comedy/wooster/

I remember it too. Of course Steven Fry and Hugh Laurie remade it. Were there any others?

Hopefully this link should show a list of the Tv shows that have been adapted from Wodehouse's work.

It seems like producer Michael Mills was particularly taken with them.

I have the 1970s radio series starring Richard Briers on CD somewhere and it was easy and cheap enough to pick up on ebay.

What a shame about the loss.

I do hope procedures are now in place at the BBC and other broadcasters to prevent this kind of thing happening again.

I know sitcoms are not looked on as high art but they're still a part of our cultural history.
