Stand up gig Page 3

Well done Dan!

I kept the copy of Time Out I was first listed in.

I like the idea of keeping mementos/scrapbook of comedy successes. When I get some, will do.

Some people seem to be able to spin five minutes comedy out of one or two scribbled notes on the back of their hand. I wouldn't feel confident unless I can recite the whole lot word for word before going on.

Surely that's just acting though isn't it? What happens if something happens to throw you off course?

Not that I'm an expert but I think you should have a bit of freedom.

If he's having a good gig, Richard Herring off the telly (and the BCG podcast) loses an audience on purpose, then gets them back. The big show-off.

Top marks to DJB - Da man. Wave

Am seeing him in November!
Am v. excited.

Absolutely it is, you've hit the nail on the head. And as I get more experience, hopefully I'll be able to interact and improvise more, knowing I've still got my 5 mins of material "in the bag" to go back to.

On the Laughing Horse course I won a place on they told me starting out, you just want to concentrate on your BEST 5 minutes... hone it till you get it the best it can be... Most young comedians fail because they get fed up doing the same routine.

They also told me to get somewhere I should be aiming to work 2-3 days a week

Whistling nnocently

not quiet there yet..

You should also move then.

I think it's almost impossible to get 2 or 3 gigs a week unless you live in London or one of the other big cities?

Fortunatly I live near enough to the big smoke to theortically be close enough to do it, but close enough to be in the country too, the Garden of England in fact.

All good. Thanks to you, Bex and Stuart for all the help.

Can I be your supporting act when you're famous?

I can cobble 15 minutes of crap up to make you look good!

the Garden of England in fact.

Actually, Norfolk now holds that title.

Quite jealous. Missed him in the Pool last month.

Actually, Norfolk now holds that title.

I thought that was the swimming pool of England.

London has more comedy clubs than every other world capital combined.

TRUFAX!

Well, so I read.

So why can't I get a gig?

Happy now?

I thought that was the swimming pool of England.

Well it's certainly not the gene pool of England.

So why can't I get a gig.

Do you really want me to answer this question?
