Not Going Out - Series 3 Page 30

Tim owned it. He had left Kate (pre-series 1) but she still lived there, with Lee renting the room. Half of series 2 was about Lee not being able to buy it when Tim put it up for sale, Lucy buying it from Tim (her brother), and eventually Lee renting the room, against Lucy's instinct.

Ah yes its all coming back now. Thanks! :D

Does Lee actually have a job currently? How does he pay rent? Why does he always say he pays the cleaner?

This show has more questions than Lost. Laughing out loud

Another question is the actress who plays Lucy the same person in the new Peugeot advert - the one where they drive past each other singing Elvis?

Another great episode on Friday. Series three so far is much better than series two. The bloody door thing is starting to annoy me too. I've never thought about how Lee can afford to live in that flat and pay a cleaner, but I'd like to know now.

One of the things his rent goes towards, I suspect.

And AFAIK, he's still supposed to have the van.

Lee Mack is from 'oop north', so no doubt he's dealing in drugs or stolen goods.

Daisy is strung out on heroin, so he pays her in smack. She is also a 'cleaner' in the Leon sense of the word and takes out any rival dealers in the area.

Lee has to leave the door open as part of his bail agreement with the courts.

Tim Vine's character sells child porn.

Now, can anyone answer why I've not been able to sell my script to CBeebies?

Angry

Apologies Matthew, it is dreadful for me to slur the character of northern people. How dare I suggest Lee Mack's character is dealing in drugs or stolen goods, when I've blatantly left out benefit fraud?

Hopefully, in a future episode they will show him dressed up in a variety of comedy disguises 'signing on' under assumed names. Particularly looking forward to when he becomes a 'China Man' and says: 'So solly, no workee in two weekee'.

Obviously, by your lack of reaction, you're okay with my presumption that southener Tim Vine sells under age skin flicks. :)

The Northern gags are a huge joy and breath-of-fresh-air type thing for me. One of my favourite aspects of the show is that it feels it can do that. :)

Do northern gags? They've never struck me as out of the ordinary. D'you think shows steer clear of that? I don't think anyone's offended by that sort of thing. Except mentals.

I wouldn't put anything past you southerners . . .

Yes, I do think that shows steer clear of that kind of thing. Perhaps it particularly strikes me because it's a northerner, playing a northern character, saying it in reference to himself, AND he's also the (lead-/co-)writer.

"You are an interfering little shit!"
"I bet no one speaks to Secret Squirrel like this."

Fantastic.

Lee is an ice cream man - for anyone who missed it.

The hundreds and thousands.

They were a bit flaky on the details.

Saw the re-run last night and laughed a hell of a lot. The one thing I have found with this show is that, for me, it looses a lot on repeated viewing. There was a bit in the middle that I must have channel hopped to on Friday, I remembered it and this was the only bit I didn't laugh at.

Plently of shows though, wouldn't make me want to watch again so it is way out there in terms of it's ability to make me laugh.

Some of the contrivances like Lee living there with not much income, although they do make a fair bit out of his not paying the rent or paying fully or on time, but I can forgive this because it is genuinely laugh out loud funny.

And even my wife noticed the front door thing last night and it is hugely annoying. What is going on with that?
