Barry George song

To the tune of 'Golden Brown' by The Stranglers.

Barry George, eight years inside
His IQ, The Yard tried to hide
Throughout his life
Tall tales were rife
So the media gorged on Barry George

Jill Dando, shot at close range
Crimewatch UK, never the same
Nick Ross and Bruce
Could not deduce
So the media gorged on Barry George

Barry George, what now for him
With fame assured, maybe a film
But brandished a lag
Like Colin Stagg
A new life reforged for Barry George.

Not much humour in it unfortunately.

Matches the song well, but a bit joke light.

Not that I'm one to judge on the front.

Excellent lyrics -especially as the verdict has only just been announced. Scans well, also.

You say, "Not much humour in it unfortunately." There's a few posts on 'Critique' could do with that tag on the end!

It's very clever and it's bang-on topical. Well done!

It works well, but more sad than humorous as you say.

Thanks for feedback folks, its good practice getting the right song, correct amount of syllables etc; but content is very important too. Cheers and if you know of any other miscarriages of justice let me know :)

Mind you I know Mark has said in the past he likes to do some material that is more serious, and less funny (but obviously still funny).

So serious minded, well constructed skits/songs certainly have a chance.
