Do NOT question my Superman trivia knowledge, sootyj. It is my only super-power.
Question: Why couldn't Doomsday kill Superman a second time?

Lousy image of a real UK hero,
As I recall, it was because Doomsday became intelligent and prone to doubt.

Big Dave?

Ye pretty much. Where as the first time he'd never experienced defeat....except being killed thousands of times to speed up evolution lol
I always thought Superman was a bullying moron in tights, one of the worst superheros ever.
Apart from the very earliest stories when he was a Jewish scoialist.
I was never a big fan of 2000 AD, apart from any Judge Death stories.

Blue Oyster Bar?

2000AD was a weird hot house, they hired loads of writers then paid them really badly.
So loads of talented writers came and went.
So for every intermidable Judge Dredd epic, or Button Man,
there was a Dr and Quinch, Halo Jones, Zentih, Cursed Earth, Big Dave etc.
Alan Moore, Alan Grant, Neil Gaiman, and many more cut their teeth there.

Marshal Law, he was a very twisted, and kinky superhero.
So of course I thought he was ace.
I haven't bought any comics/graphic novels for a good while now. Can anyone recommend me anything (looking at the sort of thing I like)?
League of Extraordinairy Gentlemen (all 3 books),
Y the Lastman (albeit maybe cheaper to read them in the Library theres loads!),
The Ultimates (the best none Alan Moore superhero comic ever)
Then why not try something a tad more high brow?
Will Eisner, a contract with God (a sublime work of genius that changed the genre)
Art Spiegelman Maus (it's way better than the hype_
Alan Moore, From Hell (it just is)
But if you're into superheros The Ultimates book 1&2
n.b. the Ultimates is also laugh out load funny/

Are you serious? I saw the film (which I thought was funny), but really?

I've got From Hell. The Ultimates sounds like it might be worth checking out, and TLOEG too. Will Eisner? Did he do The Spirit (among others)?
2000AD became shit after they brought in glossy covers.
I started buying it just before Grant Morrison's Zenith, during a fantastic run, with Bryan Talbot drawing Nemesis the Warlock, Bad Company, the death of Johnny Alpha, the Judge Dredd Chopper/Oz saga, the Judge Dredd/Kraken/Cursed Earth saga, and the odd DR & Quinch single-pager. Not one duff strip in the comic.
Oh, yes, and The Ultimates is astonishingly good, as are the first 13 issues of Ultimate Spider-Man (the rest of the run is pretty good too).
The Spirit yes, also Life on Another Planet, The Plot.
The guy was a freakin genius, it's not for nothing they named the awards after him.
From Hell was ace wasn't it?
Johnny Alpha, way cool!
I loved Zenith.

Not one of my favourites, but better than the film.
