Quote: DaButt @ August 3 2008, 3:02 AM BSTIt's nice to be able to forget about presidential politics for a few years, but unfortunately our election cycle is growing longer with every contest. It seems like this one has been going on forever.
You should do what we do. Maximum of 5 years (or 4, whatever) in office, but can call an election at any point he - or she - wishes, with 6 weeks notice or whatever it is. That'd make things faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more exciting.
Quote: Finck @ July 30 2008, 3:13 PM BSTTo be fair, the German word for grapefruit is pretty ridiculous. It's "Pampelmuse".
I came across the term Pamplemousse in French Polynesia, where it is used to for a sweet grapefruit the size of a football. They were gorgeous. Oddly enough they also used the Spanish word for apple, manzana for tiny sweet bananas. Which were also gorgeous.
I don't care much for fruit beers on the whole, but I am rather fond of Well's Banana Bread Beer.
Difficult to argue with Frankie's list, but it would involve shooting at least one of my ex-girlfriends.

Revised: Anyone who has a body piercing who is not part of an ethnic African tribeā¦
She was of African descent, but she was born in Wood Green, so I don't think the ethnic African defence holds up. And do many ethnic African tribes go in for clit piercing?

Yeah, I've looked it up and apparently the German word for grapefruit really is Grapefruit. Pampelmuse is the giant one. The word Pampelmuse comes from the French pamplemousse which comes from the Dutch pompelmoes which comes from the Tamil bambolmas. We've been living in a globalised world for a quite a long time now...
Quote: Griff @ July 29 2008, 2:16 PM BSTHe was a man who liked a drink, that can't be argued.
My favourite Churchill quote was his response to Bessie Braddock who had accused him of being drunk: "Yes madam, and you are ugly. But in the morning I shall be sober."
