We want your pilot scripts!

This summer I'm doing an internship with a new company called Urstreams.com. It's basically a streaming media, networking site. Think Myspace and Youtube combined but accommodating all forms of media; video, image, audio, text, on a customisable page called a ‘channel'. The aim is to create a place where media of all levels, genres and origins can be placed and given exposure. An added perk is that the site is completely advertiser funded and the content owner gets fifty percent of any advertisement revenue that their work is coupled with.

I'm in charge of getting comedy content on the website and one of the things my boss suggested was filming a pilot sitcom episode (or at least part of one) which we could then encourage production companies to view.

So, here is the deal:

- We have access to production equipment

- What we don't have is a budget

- Therefore we need scripts with a lot of laughs an interesting plot, but with very few locations. Minimalist is the word!

You might be thinking it sounds hard to do, and maybe it does, but rather than seeing it as an obstacle think of it as a challenge. It may spark something really new and different (think Marion and Geoff)

We are hoping that the notion of a 'no budget' pilot coupled with a really clever idea and a great script will be appealing to companies.

So send me a treatment of your idea, a few pages of script or even a whole script if you think it fits the bill.

If you want to check out the site go to www.urstreams.com

And by the way- We are still looking for as many people to set up profiles as possible so if you have any content, video, audio, image or text, send me an email at tompakinkis@googlemail.com

What is an internship?

something to do with smoking cigars

If he's interred there may be a problem.

What is an internship?

Interns are usually there to prove themselves - given little or no wages and taken on if they are any good. But I am willing to be proven wrong.

What is an internship?

It is just office jargon. In layman's terms, it means: 'Tea-maker and photocopying slave'

Sounds like a good opportunity, good luck with it.

He lost me at 'streaming media'.

How do i send it to you?

do we just email the scripts to the address above? also, can we send you more than one script?

Out of all the defintions these were the most accurate:

"...little or no wages..."

"...something to do with smoking cigars..."

Mozzie - Just email it to tompakinkis@googlemail.com

And Earman - Feel free to send as many as you want.

Cheers guys.
Tom

Sorry for what might seem like a spirited entry into the muppet olympics, but I'm having trouble working out what you mean?

If you have 'no budget' it's hard to see how 'minimal locations' is going to help. Even one is going to be too many!

My sitcom is almost entirely centred around one set, but you'd still either have to pay to film on location or build the set from scratch.

So, just to clarify: do you literally have no budget or do you actually have enough of a budget to film in a few different locations?

And the gold medal goes to....

Laughing out loud Laughing out loud Laughing out loud Laughing out loud

I read something about a smear campaign relating to Gordon Brown's cabinet recently. It all makes sense now.
