I love the way in the film the robots mouth is animated by obviously swithcing heads with different sized mouths.

Very f**king funny! Perry I really am a fan - this is on a par with the As Boys Grow video, which was also brilliant.

You said before there was interest in these voiceovers - is this still something which might be going ahead?

Ah I dunno - who knows? I just keep making them cause they make me laugh. A certain prodco's been trying to find a place for them for ages though. I'm involved in a couple of new sketch show projects at the moment and they may fit into them. As I say, who knows?

I think what's worrying people is clearance. Nobody seems to believe me when I tell them these old movies are royalty-free.

If you're talking about people within the industry, shouldn't it be at least one of their jobs to know about stuff like this?
If you manage to fit them in I think you're on to a winner with these. Good luck in trying anyway - would be a shame not to get them out there somehow.

Thanks, means a lot.

From a secret repository that only I know about.

Nah it's part of the Prelinger Archives, a massive library of old public info films.

Blimey, free rights to use & modify too. Amazing.

http://www.archive.org/details/prelinger

Contrast with exhorbitant prices from Pathe News without options to modify. http://www.britishpathe.com/prices.html

£500 per year if you want to show it on a website...

Do you know if everything on that website royalty free? Or each piece has a separate license? I can't seem to find where it says that. Because, I found this on there:

http://www.archive.org/details/superman_the_mechanical_monsters

And I really hope I can use it commercially as I'm filming a Superman sketch and the theme would add some nice authenticity. But I don't understand how it can be royalty free with DC characters in?

The boys growing up sketch was also top btw.

EDIT: Sorry, think I was in the wrong section :(

EDIT 2: This one is listed as public domain!? I'm confused. http://www.archive.org/details/superman_1941

good stuff. especially the rubbish moving mouth at the end.
