I have the Rhino Records compilation "A fistful of film music - the ennio morricone anthology". Great stuff!

Still on EM, when I got the TGTBATU DVD I left it on the menu thing for weeks just playing the snippet of score on a loop.
There was an article about adverts reusing scores. Michael Caine films were very high up the list. Quite right, he's been in some brilliantly scored films.
Sister Act - my first and only homemade soundtrack tape
In the early 90's, when soundtrack albums where still unheard of in my neck of the woods, I watched Sister Act on TV and recorded it on VCR. I liked the music so much that I would rewind the videocassette over and over just to hear the songs. In the end, I realized that it would be easier to just tape the music. So, I put on the TV and hit record, making my first and only soundtrack tape. The audio quality wasn't great, but I was happy

I see it features the classic, "Rescue Me", and also an Etta James number.
One From The Heart (Tom Waits/Crystal Gayle)
The Harder They Come. Manhattan for the opening scene. Buena Vista Social Club.
The music for Repo Man works well. Chico and Rita. Local Hero - and many others.
OK. West Side Story.
I genuinely love it.

That's very good.
I like the Simon Bolivar people doing Mambo.
All the Studio Ghibli films have great scores, especially the ones by Joe Hisachi. Naussicaa I think is my favourite.
Hisachi also did a brilliant new score for Buster Keaton's 'The General' which is possibly the best action comedy films ever made. Hisachi's score just made it better.
