Ditto,
Twas a pretty excellent workshop done by The Script Factory up in Manc. Reasonably priced and with a great presenter from one of the smaller production companies.

Hey, jdubya -- how was the first proper lecture-y stuff from Comedy College? Was there any more to it than Micheal mentioned in his (excellent) blog entry?

Yep, that's the one - 60 people attended, it was sold out and there didn't seem to be any empty seats.
It was a day-long session showing how to get even a bad script on TV, so it covered:
The mindset behind each of the channels
Pitching, with an exercise at the end
Marketing your script
Contracts, including rates, DVD agreements, optioning, costings, low and high cost sitcoms, the full monty with figures.
The end-to-end production process
Writing as a team and 'must haves' for a new writer.
An insight into script editing.
I ended up with a few pages of notes, and am looking forward to applying them to my scripts and application process in future. It's good to see it from the other side and know for sure that you're giving yourself the best possible chance.
They did one in London before the Manchester one, it could be a regular thing.
nice one. thanks for that. swerty, mj pretty much nailed it. it was a great week, will write more soon, but currently in the maternity ward with my no longer pregnant wife and our new baby daughter.

Dan

EDIT: Of baby, obviously.

I'll pay you a fiver - and if we all do that you'll make a profit.
