Scripts sent off

I decided to enter both the film and tv drama competitions posted on this site and sent them off last week. the deadlines arent till september but im happy as i could be with them and its better to be early than late right?
id actually written my drama ages before i found out about the competition and had already sent it off to an agent who liked it but wanted £1250 upfront and as a uni student I couldnt afford that plus there was doubt as to whether it was legit.

After that disappointment this competition was exactly what i needed. My drama is about 4 adult siblings and is called '4 Siblings'. I dont want to give too much away but if i had to pitch it id say it was Brothers&Sisters meets Ugly Betty.

I entered the film competition as a way of entering the industry and getting my drama made or at least reviewed as the agent deal fell through. Id actually written my film script before I found out about the tv drama competition otherwise I might not have written it. Its called 'The Game of Revenge' and i dont want to give too much away but basically its about a bitter divorced couple who are reunited while trying to rescue their kidnapped daughter. it may not sound like much but a lot of stuff happens and its a thriller.

So wish me luck and good luck to all those who entered!

Good luck. But as a writer, you'll need to get used to disappointment sooner or later...

That's what it was like before, to be fair...

Yep. No money, no friends, no sex ... it's an entire life of disappointment.

That's the life of a Jedi.

Cool I'm a Jedi comedy writer.

Surely once you make it, it's money, friends and sex up the ying yang? All balances out in the end.

Best of luck with the entry, Zuhaib!

I think you also did the best thing walking away from that agent as he sounded as dodgy as socks and sandals. I think the general rule is that if an agent asks for money up-front runaway!!!!

I might be mistaken Griff so please don't take this wrong but after seeing your avatar and now this post I get the impression you are a little down in the mouth.

No worries Tuumble I was just kidding Zuhaib about the perils of the writer's life. I am a fairly cheerful soul in real life as long as I remember to take my medication. But thanks anyway!

:D

Ha! My mock concern worked!

Actually, I am concerned for the welbeing of all BSG members...apart from that Perry chap - watch 'im - he's a bad' un!

...and Aaron. ;)

Funny thing your film comp.
Just got two e-mails on the same day.
One from Bluecat, saying my screenplay was utter shite, the other from Page International, saying I was through to the quarter-finals.
Same script.
Ho-Hum.

hehe -- typical. Nice one, btw. Not for the bad script, which is obviously utter rubbish, but the one that got through -- it's great!

;)

Good luck Zuhaib. Was it Red Planet? *

As for your novel I'd keep submitting it.

* But not as much good luck as to me!
